Friendly: The Maltese is one of the friendliest dog breeds their is. They are absolutely the most "child friendly" breed and being raised in our home with 5 boys 12 and under in age, they are used to a little commotion and used to playing with kids. The Maltese is a small breed and the perfect lap dog to sit on your lap during your favorite television show. Typically the male puppies get to be about 7 to 9 pounds whereas the the female puppies get to be about 5 to 7 pounds.
Hypo-Allergenic: The maltese is also a hypo-allergenic dog so in most cases if you are allergic to dogs you would not be allergic to a Maltese puppy. The Maltese also does not shed which is a great benefit compared to other breeds of dogs.
Intelligence: The Maltese is extremely intelligent and an extremely trainable dog. They can be easily potty trained as well as treaching them other tricks and commands as well.
Cost: As you will notice in most pet stores you will see female Maltese puppies ranging anywhere from $2500 and up. The male puppies will typically range anywhere from $2000 and up. The problem with getting a puppy from a pet store or at the mall is more often than not they do come from a puppy mill and are exposed to many many other puppies which unfortunately causes those animals to have more possible health problems. Obviously being raised in our home has some significant health benefits and they come from a very loving environment.
In addition ususally the smallest Maltese are the most desirable to people so the smaller a Maltese is the higher the price typically is.
Our current litter: Well Ruth is expected to give birth to a new litter on or around Halloween week. When that happens we will update the website... When they are born the puppies will need to stay with their mom as long as possible and a minimum of 8 weeks. We usually prefer 10 weeks as it gives the puppies a better healthier start as they breast feed with mom longer and makes them much stronger in the long run. We typically do not give them any cute names while they are here because it makes it a lot harder on our 5 children when they go to their new home so we give them numbers like boy #1, girl #3 etc. It is a lot easier this way on our 5 boys.. Besides I am sure you have a cute name picked out for your new puppy anyway! Maybe "whitey, snowball, flurry, avalanche," etc. I am sure you can do better than us for a name.....
